MATCH REPORT

Today we were back on one of our home grounds at Narre Warren to play Melbourne in round 5. It was a perfect day for footy. Today we had 8 changes to the team with either players back from injury or making their comebacks. I was a bit nervous a must admit.

QTR1

We got away to a good start in dominating the play but we weren't putting it on the score board, mids and wingers playing very well. Fitzy and Tex were giving us great drive with their long kicking which resulted in goals. Travis was on fire playing his pocket role with a lovely front and centre goal, very unlucky not to kick 3 in the first, more game and training time into him will make a big difference to him and our team. Great to see Mitch have an impact straight away and myself kicking a goal, also missing a soda. Goals from new players coming in was a real positive.

QTR2

Once again we were playing really well but not getting enough reward for effort. Baz was having a great game, he is learning to play the wing role very well, great effort, Big Al was dominating the ruck and playing his role exceptionally well again, he is becoming a 5th midfielder for us with run and carry, sharing the footy, long kicking and willingness to work back and help the defenders, Great stuff Big man. Unfortunately Tex hurt his back and was unable to come back on and Johnny got away with a knee injury that didn't look good, thank god, the VC played his best game for the club. I've put it on him to stand up and be the leader the club knows he is and he has done that since our discussion a couple of weeks ago, he played his half forward role exceptionally well working his guts out to get front and centre and kicking 2 goals for us , lucky not to kick 4, well done.

QTR3

We started well again, the message was lets keep this team to no goals again after half time, this would be 3 weeks in a row. It will take a team defence. We were able to achieve this so another great effort, all the backs are playing their roles brilliantly either winning their one on ones or linking up and giving us run. Seal was having a great game although he should never kick on his right foot, keep it simple champ haha.

QTR 4 We were able to run the game out well with Disco, Alex and Juzzy doing a power of work in the stoppages all day, well done gents. Juzzy kicking a great goal in the last and Alex finally snaring one, what is it 1-7? A big thumbs up goes to Puppy Brad and Aaron being asked to play at CHF for a fair bit of the game as Cam and Matty didn't play. Both players grew into the role the longer the game went on, both were buggered by the end of the game. As i said to the players Brad was asked for a bigger effort at half time and he did just that and Aaron copped a big hit to the head in a contest in the 3rd qtr but by both players got straight back up, Aaron was a little wobbly but found his feet and played a blinder after that, great work gents. Well done to He-Man for his first game for the club.

In the end with so many changes to the team it was a good win, well done to all the players. Keep getting to training so we can keep learning the systems especially with so many players running through different positions. Really proud of you all , i know i demand on you all a lot and i will continue to. I was really happy with the game from the vision just a few more things to tighten up which we will work on, we are getting there boys Well done.
