MATCH REPORT

A sunny 20 degree day greeted us as we headed down to Mordialloc for round 3. Coming off a disappointing loss to Doveton we did some vision training and trained the things we needed to improve on over the last two weeks. As the boys turned up i could see there was a steely look about them, I thought they looked switched on. The message was, man on man, play our systems and the rest will take care of itself.

First quarter, bounce, Brad wins the tap, Baz flies in of the wing, hands off to Tex, kicks long ball comes off the pack, Lester crumbs off the pack hands out to new player Cocky runs into an open goal, point. 13 seconds of pure clean footy. Nearly an awesome start. Pressure was superb from the start, forwards pressure inside and out of the 50 mt was excellent which created some terrific opportunities, Jonathon leading the way. Mids were all playing their role, being man on man and using and helping each other. The backs were their usual solid unit, they are forming a terrific group down there, with captain Matt leading the way. Mick and Louie both made the most of their opportunities, Louie unlucky not to kick 3, he had the point disease as we kicked 15 of them and Mick winning a 2 on 1 with pure desperation, well done guys.

2nd quarter, we played good solid footy, still didnt take our chances though. There was a bit of a distraction during the quarter and emotions were running a little high. To the players credit they all switched back on to play good footy.

3rd quarter, we came out and were very solid again, Big Al and the mids started to take control through the middle, Disco was getting his hands dirty with some in and under footy, bringing some real composure to his game.

4th quarter, We finished the game full of running and shared the ball with terrific skill. Our best quarter by far. Alex and Juzzy were leading the way. Great to see Puppy Brad keep working hard and the tide turned for him with 2 last quarter goals. We look like we are a very fit team. Overall a day where every player played some role during the day and that's whats required for us to keep improving. Only 2 goals were scored by Mordialloc, none after half time, A great defensive team effort.
