MATCH REPORT

Today we went down to Casey Fields to play Cranbourne last years Grand Finalist for Rnd 1. There was a strong breeze going straight across the ground so it didn't really assist either team. I'm very happy to say that we came away with a very hard fought win by 7 points. Today we had 6 debutantes playing their first game for the Warriors, Viny, Baz, Bomber, George, Travis and Mick, so a great way for them to start.

We started extremely well in the first qtr probably didn't take our chances to score more but at least we are giving ourselves the opportunities.

The 2nd qtr and 3rd qtr were pretty much the same, very physical, we had enough of the footy although we turned the ball over a bit ourselves, Cranny were starting to get a bit of a run on late in the qtr, and they had some momentum coming into the last. The message was get back to the systems we have been training, the game was there for either team to win or lose.

The 4th qtr was a very physical and demanding on both teams but in true Warrior fashion we were able to withstand everything that Cranbourne through at us. Our last 5 minutes was very impressive in our composure, the way we kept control of the game.

Big Al was terrific all day especially in the last 5 min as was Mitch, Dasha (Nearly lasted a game without getting hurt) Bear beating 4 onto 1, Bomber, Travis and Gary Finke had a great game on the wing before he got cleaned up and Tex had a strong game as well. A very impressive start to the year and with some players to come back spots in the team will be up for grabs. We can't rest on our laurels, We need to keep getting to training and learning our systems to make sure we keep improving.

Also congratulations on Matty D being announced Captain and Johnny for Vice Captain, very deserving appointments.
