MATCH REPORT
Round 3 saw us at home against Werribee . The reserves showed the way in the early game by almost snatching a win from being behind all day! Game started well for us running the ball quickly out of the middle early on Baz set the standard by chasing down Werribee player running into open goal which would have been a certain goal, we teamed up well in the first quarter following our game plan and getting score on the board, work rate was up on previous games
Second quarter we pushed ahead however Werribee started to run the ball in numbers which was rebounded by our defence team to go into the shed 4 Goals to 2. We were showing consistency and teaming well. Rugby Steve copped a heavy knock and was done for the day, his tackle showed many of us what we needed to do to keep winning the ball.
After an momentary outburst from the coach Warriors came out in the 3rd quarter and continued on from where we finished last half, unfortunately we lost Karl for rest of the game five minutes in and Tex who was stretchered off after a heavy knock later in the quarter, down to 17 players - we kicked a goal and held Werribee goal less for the 3rd quarter. Our goal to goal spine was performing well backed by our defenders and we were taking our opportunities when we saw them. New Player JP was giving us drive off the half forward flank as well as many of our runners. Q4 saw Werribee mount an early challenge however we continued on to run out winners 7 goals to 2
Many highlights but one in particular showed how we can play when we ran the ball from defence without the ball touching the ground or opposition resulting in a quick goal, also many of the team played in unfamiliar positions and played well
Well done to everyone also thanks to ex-Coach Lee for stretchering Tex off and his assistance.
