Supers Round 1 Versus Box Hill Nth on 09 April 2017

A typical winter day greeted the Waverley Warriors at Jordan Oval for the season's first round hit out against Box Hill North. Both sides hit the ground hard, tackling was strong and Waverley started to piece together their running game taking chances where ever possible. Our quarter and half time scores were similar with a highlight, the 40 metre Tex goal.

In the third quarter Warriors broke open the game and scored consistently to lead at three quarter time. Cam provided some good drive in the ruck and up forward scoring. Run of the day was Silk down the centre of the ground, then handballing over the top of BHN players for a quick goal.

The last quarter was a slog and in last 5 minutes we struggled to get it out of our backline, a wobbly kick drifted through for BHN to give them the game by 1 point . (Thanks to the Reserves guys who backed up and played again)

Some good signs with players to come back into the side, some fine tuning needed in a couple of area's but plenty of positive play on the day.
