MATCH REPORT

Round 10 at Elgar Park against Box Hill North, the visit brought back memories of various injuries at that ground as well as the bench chairs resembling the first chairs I saw there 30 years ago! (Coach and Disco perused the ground early and recalled memories of games long ago) The committee weather Guru delivered a sunny day again however a reasonable breeze prevailed blowing to the far end which would cause scoring issues for Warriors during the afternoon. Again we had selected a full supers squad raring to go and 5 on the bench, Sammy replaced by Juzzy due to a Hammy injury ! The team was in the rooms early and appeared very focused, caught the coach off guard with their early preparation and probably hit the ground too early

We won the toss and game started with Warriors having a 3 goal breeze however BHN came out of the blocks quickly and teamed up well to catch Warriors off guard. We pushed the ball forward but signs were there early that our kicking radar was off, BHN kicked 1 point to our 1 goal 3 but could have been more but for our defenders . Big Cam went onto the wing and kicked the goal of the game judging the wind to perfection from an out of bounds on the half forward flank

Went to the break where coach pointed out we had started slowly but BHN had got a sniff , second quarter we attacked against the wind but BHN kicked 4 goals with 3 from outside 50 clearly having there radar switched on, the ball was continually repelled by their defenders and warriors kicking continued to disappoint, we kicked 1 goal 1 point to still be in it at half time

We reconvened inside the immense(not) rooms and a vibrant 2 way discussion took place between players and coach, this seemed to kick start our game with us piling on 6 goals 2 points. Al playing well in the ruck took a knock to a private area that required a visit to the bench to recuperate with Cam going into the ruck, Luke catching everything and John at full forward on the prowl, Tex crumbing

At 3 quarter time there was 3 kicks in the game - coach reset the side, last quarter turned into an arm wrestle with Warriors getting out to 10 goals but BHN were not finished and kept coming with the wind, Captain Hi Man stepped up and delivered a goal in the last few minutes to steady the side and we were home by 8 points (His first goal in 5 years of footy)

Good effort from everyone - particularly our defenders who had their work cut out with their 2 tall forwards, guys coming on and off the bench thanks for your patience Next game is Finals vs Northern District at venue TBA - see you at training
