MATCH REPORT
A bright sunny MCG sized ground awaited the Waverley Warriors Supers for their home game away at Wellington Park , the opposition were heard to say you could play the game across the ground!! Before the start both sides respected and observed silence for Anzac Day presentation.
The game commenced with both sides hitting the packs hard and a good first quarter with some good contests - both sides moving the ball up and down the middle. Jason kicked a 40 meter snag to open his account at the Warriors. Four on the bench meant we could run some rotations with Miles coming to the bench for a rest and drink. It was a sign to come as he commented on Bayside’s running and speed.
Second quarter was similar to first but Bayside snuck away with a few goals due to a few concentration lapses where we had the opportunity to stop the game and reload. Some learnings for us here. Machine was starting to have an impact kicking two goals and looking dangerous up forward. Warriors were asked to compete pre-game and up till half time were right in the game. Half time coach pointed out the areas we needed to work on and obvious re concentration errors.
Half time presentation by Juzzy to Isabella reinforced how lucky we are to be playing and/or involved in the game.
Third quarter Bayside switched on the afterburners and left us behind, their delivery out of the middle to there forwards was precise and difficult to stem - playing in Southern supers league we are learning our fitness needs to improve and less room for error. Fourth quarter was much of the same and Bayside running out very strongly with Warriors out of legs.
Disappointing end after a good showing in first half, our next game is at home against Mordialloc and looking for a strong showing.
