Supers Round 3 Versus Mordialloc on 06 May 2018

Lost 2-8-20 to 9-7-61Cuddles, Doski, Matty D, Miles, SilkLuke, Jason

Another bright sunny day was provided for our clash with Mordialloc back on our home ground Meade Reserve (coach was heard muttering about rain!).  Several new faces in the team after a few were unavailable.

First quarter was a physical affair with both sides competing hard with many defensive moves executed. Warriors continued to attack and won some good clearances, both sides scoring a goal each and Warriors took the break full of enthusiasm. Our new CHB was proving handy with some clever intercept marks and our rotations/interchange were effective with Frenchy’s first game quietening one of their key playmakers. Bear was looking dangerous on the half forward line with Miles playing all over the ground

Second quarter was similar to first with both sides defending strongly and launching attacks. Unfortunately we were not able to capitalise on our scoring shots and forward initiatives kicking 2 points to Mordialloc 3 goals . At half time confidence was about that we could capitalise on first half and catch up the deficit.

Third quarter was a tussle with Mordialloc adding extra couple of goals but game still within reach.  Coaches shuffled the magnet board and made some changes – the mantra from Pants was get one early and we are a sniff which we did but unfortunately  were not able to capitalise further leaving our opposition to keep their lead until the end. Small mistakes cost us 3 easy goals.

Great attitude, enthusiasm and commitment was shown and also found a couple of new players for the rest of the season, with players to come back and several reserves players performing well, we look forward to the next game.
